The MPP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington says this year has put us in uncharted waters, dealing with COVID-19, but everyone has come together to help work through it.
Daryl Kramp spoke to Quinte News recently to reflect on the past year and the challenges posed in 2020.
Kramp is crediting the hard work and dedication of residents for keeping the number of local COVID-19 infections down.
“It’s across the board – this has spared nobody. It’s a huge, huge challenge, but on the positive side I just can’t say enough about the level of cooperation locally in our region. From the health units, to the hospitals, to our municipal people, everybody has been absolutely outstanding.”
Aside from dealing with the pandemic, Kramp says the Provincial Government has been doing a lot of work this year to support municipalities across Ontario.
“We’ve just put an energy reduction for commercial and industrial, we’ve added significant dollars to all of our municipal transfers, we were able to finally consolidate the annual funding for Quinte Health Care, we’re hands on as far as dealing with the impacts on people and trying to come up with the results that are going to give us the relief that we need.”
Kramp also noted the forming of a new family health team in Lennox and Addington as a major highlight of the last year and says moving forward, the Provincial Goverment will continue to do its best to help residents and businesses to be successful.
