The Belleville Police Service responded to 68 calls for service from December 19, 2020 at 5 a.m. to December 20, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Motor Vehicle Collisions
On December 19, 2020 at 12:42 p.m., police attended on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in response to a two-vehicle collision. There were no injuries reported; and as a result of the investigation, the at fault driver was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
On December 19, 2020 at 1:20 p.m., police attended on North Front Street in response to a two-vehicle collision. There were no injuries reported and as a result of the investigation, the at fault driver was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
Arrested on warrants
On December 19, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m., police were in the area of College Street East investigating a theft complaint. During the investigation, officers had contact with a male who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a release order. A 45-year-old Belleville male was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service where he was held for a bail hearing. His name is not being released at this time to protect the identity of the victim in relation to his original charges.
On December 19, 2020 at approximately 12:20 p.m., police attended a business on Station Street in response to a dropped 911 call. While on scene, officers had contact with a female who was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend for fingerprints. Alysa Wilson, a 25-year-old Belleville female was subsequently arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service where she was held for a bail hearing.
RIDE
City police conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere program on the evening of December 19, 2020 and into the early morning hours of December 20, 2020. A total of 157 motor vehicles were checked. Two roadside breath demands were made; and breath samples were provided into an Approved Screening Device. In both cases, the samples did not register any impairment and the drivers were sent on their way.
