The Belleville Police Service responded to 59 calls for service from 5 a.m. on December.18, 2020 to 5 a.m. on December.19, 2020.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On December.18, 2020 around 9:30 a.m., police attended to a reported two-vehicle collision on Sidney Street. There were no injuries reported and as a result of the investigation, the at fault driver was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
Harassment
On December 13, police began an investigation into a complaint of harassment. As a result, a 27-year-old Prince Edward County man was charged with criminal harassment on December 18, 2020 and released on a form 10 undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court in January of 2021 to answer to the charge. The name of the accused is being withheld in order to protect the identity of the victim.
R.I.D.E.
City police conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere or RIDE program on Friday night and into early Saturday morning. A total of 211 motor vehicles were checked. One roadside breath demand was made and a sample was provided into an approved screen device. The sample did not register any impairment and the driver was sent on their way.
