Drugs, guns and other illicit items were seized early Thursday morning in Deseronto and Tyendinaga when police executed search warrants.
After an investigation involving Tyendinaga Police, OPP and the Community Street Crime Unit, two search warrants were executed at residences in Deseronto and on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Police seized restricted and illegal firearms from both residences including a handgun, a flame thrower and a conducted energy weapon as well as substances believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine. Police also seized approximately $8,000 in Canadian money.
Seven people were arrested during the warrant executions and four people are now facing charges.
Two people from the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, 34-year-old Matthew Kelly Brant and 25-year-old Erica Harley Maracle have been charged with:
- Three counts of possession of a weapon
- Four counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing a serial number has been tampered with
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
Fifty-year-old Michael Jeffrey Flynn of Deseronto has been charged with:
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
Thirty-six-year-old Dwayne Mulling of Scarborough has been charged with:
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Breach of Recognizance
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order
All four of the accused are also facing two charges each of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The accused were released and are slated to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on Feb. 22, 2021.
