This pre-Christmas cold snap has ice forming on local lakes and ponds but Quinte Conservation is warning people to not go out on it.
Ice conditions are very unpredictable at this time of year and above average flows in rivers and streams don’t allow for a stable freeze-up.
Quinte Conservation advises people to keep kids and pets away from all waterways and to always avoid water control stuctures.
Hypothermia is a major concern for anyone who falls into open water.
