The City of Belleville is opening its warming centre for the next couple of nights.
The warming centre, in the old Belleville Police Service Headquarters at 93 Dundas Street East, will be open Thursday and Friday, between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
City staff say visitors to the warming centre will be screened on arrival, must wear masks and are being asked to practice physical distancing at all times.
Beds and meals are not being provided.
As of now, the city opens its warming centre when forecasts call for temperatures at -10 degrees Celsius, or -15 with the windchill, but a decision on changing that threshold could come at the next council meeting in January.
