Municipalities in our area are getting more provincial funding.
MPP Daryl Kramp announced on Wednesday an additional $1.8 million for Hastings-Lennox and Addington in Safe Restart Funding, which will be used to offset operating costs for critical services and help ensure the municipalities do not carry an operating deficit into 2021.
The City of Belleville will receive $575,000 of this new funding as a third of the riding falls in H-L&A and the remainder falls within the Bay of Quinte riding.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith says the City of Quinte West will receive an additional $469,000, the County of Prince Edward will receive $336,000 and Hastings County will get $298,000, totalling $1.7 million for Bay of Quinte.
Kramp says the funding will provide communities with the support they need to continue delivering critical services residents rely on every day and will help municipalities develop a 2021 budget which reflects the reality of COVID-19.
