The Quinte and District Association of Realtors (QDAR) has handed over a cheque to Grace Inn for over $6,000.
A press release from the association notes the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the vast importance of “home” as refuge and as part of Realtors Care Week 2020, QDAR focused on the issue of homelessness in Canada.
As the only emergency homeless shelter in our area, serving both Hastings and Prince Edward counties, Grace Inn Shelter has become part of the social fabric of the community and already this year has provided 5,623 breakfasts to clients who spent the night in their shelter.
QDAR asked its members to help support Grace Inn Shelter by donating items such as hats, mitts, scarves, hand warmers, and coffee and grocery cards. QDAR reached out to Grace Inn Shelter to find out what was currently needed most and purchased over $1,500 worth of items from that list to go along with the items collected from members.
Additionally, QDAR contributes a portion of each member’s dues to the Every Realtor Cares campaign and handed over a cheque for $6,680 to Grace Inn from that campaign.
