It’s entirely possible that Hastings and Prince Edward counties could soon face tighter restrictions in the effort to control the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Sunday afternoon Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19, five in Quinte West, one in Belleville and one in Prince Edward County.
There were no new outbreaks reported.
Most importantly, the seven-day case rate per 100,000 hit 29.9 which qualifies for a move from Yellow – Protect to Orange – Restrict. The Yellow zone runs between 10 and 25 per 100,000 while Orange – Restrict runs between 25 and 40 per 100,000.
The Orange zone tightens up on general restrictions without forcing closures. Details can be seen here.
There are now 54 active cases of COVID-19 in Hastings-Prince Edward and there have been 222 cases confirmed since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit did not provide an update Sunday.
