More housing is planned next to Settlers Ridge in the north part of urban Belleville.
Monday night the Planning Committee heard about the proposal to change the city’s Official Plan to allow a zoning change from commercial to residential for 8.5 hectares of land near the Settlers Ridge development.
The residential project will be known as “Towncentre Drive.”
Consultant Ruth Ferguson Aulthouse told the committee Belleville has extra commercial land and needs residential projects.
Ferguson Aulthouse said since there is no frontage on Highway 62 the property is of limited commercial use.
A staff report will come back to the committee.
