A road rage incident on Cannifton Road required police presence Saturday morning.
Police responded to a business in the area of Cannifton Road and College Street East at approximately 11 a.m. where two drivers were apparently fighting.
Officers say two drivers, one who was leaving the business and one who was pulling in at the same time, exchanged words and one driver left his vehicle to confront the other. The man allegedly punched the victim in the head then fled quickly in the vehicle.
Witness accounts provided police with suspect and vehicle descriptions including licence plate numbers and police located the suspect approximately one hour later on Cannifton Road.
Forty-year-old Tyler Brian Branscombe of Belleville was arrested and charged with one count of assault.
He will appear in court Jan. 21, 2021.
