Developers are hoping to pave the way for the future development of a large former industrial property in east end Belleville.
Consultants are presenting a report to the city’s Planning Advisory Committee Monday asking for an Official Plan amendment that would allow housing and commercial development to be known as “Osprey Shores” on the former Bakelite property south of Dundas Street East.
Under the city’s Official Plan all of the almost 32 hectares of land is in an Environmental Protection zone and can’t be developed.
Although some environmental assessments on the property have been done, more clean up work is necessary before the province gives final approval.
No decision on the Official Plan amendment application will be made Monday.
