The holiday season is here and Gleaners food bank’s 12 days of giving begins December 1.
The food bank’s 12 Days of Giving event is happening in possibly the most pivotal time of the year.
Food insecurity has been an issue everywhere throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in a time where many people are feeling the pressures of work loss and limited hours. Services for people in need have been affected in the same way. Gleaners had to cancel its annual October food drive due to the pandemic.
Each day of the event will call for a different and specific in-demand item to be donated:
December 1 – Peanut Butter
December 2 – Dry Pasta
December 3 – Canned Pasta Sauce
December 4 – Macaroni & Cheese
December 5 – Canned Tuna or Salmon
December 6 – Canned Vegetables
December 7 – Canned Fruit
December 8 – Apple Juice
December 9 – Pork N’ Beans
December 10 – Gluten Free Items
December 11 – Sugar Free Items
December 12 – Hygiene Products
With the cancellation of the October food drive and the additional struggles brought on the food bank and the people it serves by the pandemic, holiday generosity is needed more than ever.
Donations can be directly dropped off at the food bank.
