A Quinte West resident faces multiple charges after an incident in the city.
On November 28, 2020, shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers with the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Dundas Street East. It was reported that a female had been assaulted and a male had fled the scene on foot.
The accused was located and arrested in the area and has been charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault-spousal
- Forcible confinement
- Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
The accused was schedule to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on November 29, 2020. The name of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the identity of the victim,
During interaction with police, the accused complained of an injury. He was transported to hospital, where he was treated and released back into custody.
The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate.
