Impaired by Drugs in Motor Vehicle
November 28 2020 – 7:45 a.m.
Belleville police attended a plaza parking lot of North Front Street at the request of City EMS regarding two people unconscious, sitting in a running motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that both people in the car were under the influence of narcotics and had stopped in the parking lot and passed out with the car running.
The 45-year-old male driver was issued a driving suspension and the vehicle was seized by police for seven days as per the provincial requirement.
Impaired Driving
November 28, 2020 – 7:30 p.m.
Belleville police observed a vehicle on College St East driving in a suspicious manner. The officer conducted a traffic stop which ended in a parking lot. During the vehicle stop investigation, the officer detected signs of impairment from the driver. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Belleville Police Station where he accused provided samples of his breath. The alcohol breath readings were almost three times over the legal limit.
Forty-five-year-old, Daniel Rose of Madoc was charged with the following offences;
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Blood Alcohol Content Exceeded 80mgs
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No licence
The accused is scheduled to attend court on December 10, 2020 to answer to his charges. The accused’s licence was also suspended for 90 days.
Breach of Probation
November 28, 2020 – 9:45 p.m.
Belleville police were dispatched to a disturbance outside a west end apartment building. One male was taken into custody for being intoxicated in a public place and taken to the Belleville Police Station to sober up. However, further investigation revealed that the man was in breach of an outstanding probation order. The accused was charged with one count of Breach of Probation and was held in custody and will appear for a Show Cause Hearing scheduled for November 29, 2020 to answer to the charge. The breach was in relation to a previous domestic charge and the accused’s name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
RIDE Program
November 28, 2020 – November 29, 2020
The Belleville Police Service RIDE Team was out on the streets last night, set up at different locations throughout the city. Numerous vehicles went through the spot checks. The RIDE program will be in full force throughout the month of December.
The Belleville Police Service would like to remind everyone this holiday season to use good judgement when enjoying alcoholic beverages. If you’ve been drinking, please do not drive. Plan ahead, utilize a designated driver or call a taxi. Enjoy the season and stay safe on our city streets.
