The Belleville Police service has begun festive Ride programs in the region.
Police say they checked over 200 vehicles Friday night without any charges being laid. However, police were called to a north end location regarding a motor vehicle collision.
Around 7:15 p.m., officers arrived and spoke to the drivers of the vehicles and noticed that one of the women drivers had the smell of alcoholic beverages on her breath.
Officers conducted a roadside breath test to the woman who failed and was arrested for driving under the influence.
She was transported to the Belleville Police Service to undergo further testing to determine the amount of alcohol in her system.
Once at the station, the woman refused a breath sample. Thirty-three-year-old Hilary Thomas of Belleville was charged with refusing to comply with a demand. She was released on a promise to appear in court on December 17, 2020.
