A school in Cramahe Township had to be put into a “hold and secure” after reports of someone nearby carrying what appeared to be a long gun.
Northumberland OPP investigated the call in the area of King Street East and Durham Street around 12:30 p.m.
Officers located the person in question at about 1:00 and found there was no threat to public safety and no charges were laid.
A hold and secure was put in place due to the incident outside of the school, with students and staff being kept inside and nobody else being allowed in.
That measure was lifted once police resolved the situation.
