It’s likely residents of Prince Edward County, even those living in urban areas, will be able to enjoy freshly laid eggs taken from their own backyard.
At its meeting Tuesday night, county council is expected to pass a so-called “backyard hens” by-law that would allow people to have small chicken coops and no more than six hens on their property.
The property would have to be zoned to allow a single family residence or be zoned Rural Residential.
Roosters would be forbidden.
Prince Edward County council meets virtually at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening.
