A violent domestic incident required police attention Saturday evening.
Around 4:45 p.m., police were called about a man hitting a woman at a residence in the Purdy Street area. When they arrived they found the female victim unconscious on the floor. The man had fled just before police arrived.
Police called on K9 units to try and track the man but eventually lost the trail in the area of Catherine Street and Dunbar Street, however police were able to positively identify the man and issue a warrant for his arrest.
Injuries to the victim are unknown and the name of the accused is not being released to protect the victim.
The investigation is ongoing.
