The Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating thefts of multiple road and traffic signs in Greater Napanee.
Numerous signs have been taken within the last few weeks, primarily in the area of Bayview Drive, County Road 9, Sherman’s Point Road and Fitchett Road, as well as some in the area of Townline Road.
The missing signs include speed limits, road names, playground ahead warning, and a stop sign. Even digital radar speed signs, valued at $5,000 have been taken.
While this may be considered a prank by some, under some circumstances a missing road sign could result in a serious or even fatal collision.
These incidents also result in additional costs to municipalities, as most signs can cost up to $200 to replace, in addition the cost of labour.
Any person with information regarding this investigation should contact the Lennox and Addington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
