Quinte Economic Development Commission is reporting another successful training session putting people to work.
The program called Elevate Plus is funded by the province and administered by QEDC.
CEO Chris King tells Quinte News it helps prepare people who are out of work for work in the food processing and manufacturing sector.
“Elevate Plus provides both the technical skills that they need plus the soft skills, and then supports them with wrap-around services to help them overcome challenges.”
King says some are unemployed or underemployed. “We just had a graduation last Thursday and everyone who graduated got a full-time permanent job offer in the manufacturing and food processing sector and there’s another cohort going on right now.”
“What it does is for those people who are ready for change to get into full time employment. It gets them job-ready. They do a great job, and we hear positive feedback.”
King added, “We also have some dollars to help the companies, manufacturers, with their training cost of their existing workforce. They might need to upgrade their skills of the existing folks and again with the corporate training at Loyalist College. They’re able to help out with that training for manufacturers.”
Elevate Plus just graduated eight people who now have jobs, and another session is getting underway.
