Typically the CPR Holiday Train rolls on rails through the Quinte region every holiday season, however it is going to roll online for 2020.
Canadian Pacific has announced they will be doing a digital concert with Canadian rockers The Trews, along with pop star Serena Ryder.
It goes on December 12.
Annually the train leaves thousands of dollars behind for local food banks.
Susanne Quinlan with Gleaners Food Bank and the Tri-County Warehouse says the train always brings joy to the region.
“We know, we get so excited for the event, and we get revved up here. We get our elves ready to serve hot chocolate and everything. It will be different for sure. We have to be careful because of COVID-19.”
More than $1.24 million will be donated to food banks across Canada, including the Brighton Fare Share, Trenton Care and Share, Gleaners, and the Tri-County Warehouse, which serves Marmora, Stirling-Rawdon, Deseronto, Picton, Wellington, and Northbrook.
Quinlan made a passionate plea that if you need help, ask.
“We will help you. That is my greatest concern, that you struggle too much and that the stress will get to you. It doesn’t have to be that way”
