An inmate at Millhaven Institution Regional Treatment Centre has died.
Corrections Canada said in a release Friday that Ernest Desroches died in custody of apparent natural causes following an illness.
Desroches had been serving a life sentence for two counts of non-capital murder, forcible confinement and prison breach with intent since June 14, 1974.
Next of kin have been notified and as in all cases involving inmate death, police and the coroner will be notified and Corrections Services Canada will conduct a review.
