Hospice Quinte received a generous gift in memory of a local business man who passed away a year ago this month.
Family of the late Peter Smith gathered last week to present a charitable gift of $50,000 in his name.
Smith was well known for his generosity in supporting numerous community projects and charitable efforts. Smith’s wife Vicki, son Matthew, and daughters Darcy and Carly were proudly joined by their friendly staff to celebrate the legacy of a man who was dedicated to the betterment of community across the greater Quinte region, and beyond.
“We are very proud to be able to support Heart and Home Building Campaign and honour our late husband and father Peter in this way,” says Vicki Smith.
“We miss him every day – he was a man who felt privileged to be able to give back to his community after the Quinte area welcomed him and supported his businesses, and he tirelessly worked on many charity boards because he wanted to share his business experience to help raise much needed funds.”
Smith will be recognized at the new centre in the fundraising office, where a photo and commemorative plaque will be placed in his honour.
“We think the naming of the ‘Fundraising Office’ is a fitting tribute to him,” adds Smith.
“We are very honoured to be receiving this needed support on behalf of Peter’s family and business,” says Hospice Quinte Executive Director, Jennifer May-Anderson.
“This generous donation reminds us that despite a loved one’s passing, adoration for them and the proud legacy they leave behind shall carry on.”
