An inmate at Warkworth Institution has died from apparent natural causes while in custody.
The inmate, who was only identified as D.M. to protect the victim of the crime and to comply with a court-ordered publication ban, died on Thursday, November 5, while serving a four-year sentence for uttering threats to cause death or harm and sexual assault.
He had been in custody since September 2017.
Next of kin were contacted and as with all cases involving an inmate’s death, Correctional Service Canada will review the death and police and the coroner were notified.
