A new seniors’ housing project, proposed for Belleville, is on its way to city council for approval.
The Quinte Senior Citizens Home would be located at 193 North Park Street beside a two-storey 30-unit retirement home already on the site.
The new three-storey building would have 54 units creating an L-shaped building.
Developer Andy Geertsma is seeking a rezoning of the property to allow for the construction of the new building located on North Park Street between Bell Blvd. and McFee Street.
The plan calls for 63 parking spaces, including seven handicapped spaces. The total complex would have 84 units and 46% landscaping. A bicycle rack will be installed outside the eastern entrance.
On Monday night, the Planning Advisory Committee decided to recommend that council approve rezoning for the property.
