“What we’ve learned about over the last year is that we have a beautiful environment on the Bay of Quinte. People were using our trails, our paths, our playgrounds, our parks and we expect that will continue in the future.”
He added, “After many decades of service we should look at extending the Bayshore Trail both east and west. Avondale Road will be completed this year. It connects up to the Mahar path which will be completed in the middle of this month. That network system that I had spoken about in the last election and since, we would like to see some steps taken to make that closer to reality.”
The former Hillcrest school property, which the city bought, will also be on the agenda.
“We’ll be making some announcements in the next little while about the future use, as well as canvassing the neighbourhood for what types of outdoor recreational activities they would like to see there.”
Panciuk said, “We also now have the news of the relocation of the fairgrounds. We have that parcel of land that we’re going to go through a process to think about it. And, it’s all very timely because of the Parks and Recreation Masterplan. We expect to have that information back in the first couple of months of 2021.”
