The Prince Edward Curling Club is putting a grant to good use.
The organization received an $81,000 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation last fall and used the funds to recently install a new refrigeration system.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith says the Curling Club has upgraded their original floor and refrigeration system to give curlers more ends and their club new life, providing healthy, active recreation now and for future generations.
The grant allowed the club to buy and install a 40-ton cooling chiller, a rooftop condenser unit and a brine circulating pump. This cooling system will help the building operate in a more energy efficient way.
There were also updates to the mechanical room and electrical upgrades too.
President of the Prince Edward Curling Club Ron Stakes says this project will reduce their energy consumption and allow the club to continue to reinvest the savings to improve the facility.
