Quinte West council will have a first look at a proposed capital projects budget for next year and 2022 at a special meeting tonight (Monday).
City staff will present a draft capital budget totalling almost $16 million for next year and just over $21 million for the year after, for a two-year total of a little over $37 million.
The majority of the spending, around $25 million, would be for road and bridge projects.
It’s proposed the city take on $8 million in debt to help pay for the two-year plan.
WATER SEWER CAPITAL
A project that would connect the Trenton municipal water system with those in Batawa and Frankford is the highlight of a proposed water and sewer capital projects budget.
The water systems “loop” is estimated to cost $5.3 million and if approved by council work would get underway next year.
The project is part of a total $16 million in water and sewer capital projects proposed for the next two years.
