A Northumberland OPP officer had to be treated in hospital for minor injuries after responding to a domestic disturbance north of Castleton in the Township of Cramahe last Wednesday night.
Upon arrival police saw a person with what looked like a firearm and tried to take the weapon away while at the same time protecting the victim.
An officer was injured in the ensuing altercation.
In the end two 27 year old women, one from Cramahe and the other from Peterborough face charges of assault and assaulting a peace officer.
A 21 year old man from Peterborough was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and breaking bail conditions.
No one will be identified to protect the identity of the victim.
