On Tuesday October 20, 2020, at 10:30 a.m., members of the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Dundas Street West in Trenton.
Police investigation led to the arrest of the driver for an arrest warrant issued by Northumberland OPP.
Further investigation led police to issue the driver a breath demand.
Several bottles of open alcohol and suspected cannabis were seized.
Shane Maingot, 38 years old, of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Having care and control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Novice driver fail to provide breath sample
The accused was released from custody with a November 12, 2020 court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
