Dignitaries cut the ribbon on phase one of a major infrastructure project in Quinte West this morning.
Work on the first section of the King Street Corridor Redevelopment, between Division Street and Catherine Street started in April and saw a complete overhaul of the roadway.
The work included the addition of new sidewalks and active transportation paths and the narrowing of King Street to enhance traffic-calming measures on the busy road.
Phase two of the project, which runs between Catherine Street and Fourth Avenue, will begin in the spring.
The total cost of the redevelopment is just under $5 million, with about $2.5 million coming from the Federal Government and about $1.6 million from the Province.
