It is Waste Reduction Week in Prince Edward County.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says the generation of waste and waste water and energy are huge problems that demand collective action.
He adds that about 68 billion pounds of waste are produced by Canadians annually or about 2,200 pounds per person.
Less than 25 percent of waste by Canadians gets diverted.
Saturday is the Quinte Trash Bash.
Pick up supplies and drop off collected litter from 9 am to 1 pm on October 24 at the following locations: Roblin Lake Park (38 Coleman Street, Ameliasburgh), Sandy Hook Road Public Works/Sand Dome (75 County Road 1), and Milford Town Hall (3076 County Road 10).
