Two men face charges after trying to escape from Belleville police in a U-Haul cube van yesterday (Monday) morning.
Police began an investigation into the U-Haul van as it was parked in a North Front Street parking lot. They’d heard the vehicle may have been involved in a police chase in Tyendinaga on Sunday.
When police approached the van the driver sped away.
Officers followed the van until it stopped in a dead end in the west park area and two suspects ran away.
They were quickly caught by officers.
A 29-year-old man from Toronto and a 33-year-old man from Montreal face possession of stolen property over $5,000 and indentity theft charges.
