A missing teenager from the Tweed area has been located, but has sadly died from injuries suffered in a collision.
The Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report at approximately 6:00 p.m. on October 11, 2020 that a 16-year-old male from Tweed was overdue after going out on an ATV earlier in the day
Central Hastings officers, members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and an OPP helicopter were all involved in an intensive search of the many trails in the area, along with a large number of local ATV riders and other local residents.
On October 12, 2020, at approximately 2:30 a.m., civilian searchers located the scene of a single ATV collision along a former rail bed, near Sulphide Road. A male was transported to hospital by Hastings-Quinte Paramedics with serious injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at hospital several hours later.
The deceased has been confirmed to be Brock Beatty, age 16 of Tweed.
The OPP thank all of those who joined the search.
