It’s no longer a three-way race to become the federal Conservative candidate in Bay of Quinte riding.
Friday Tim Durkin, who was the candidate in last year’s election, announced he would not run again, at least for the time being.
Durkin and his wife Jennifer are expecting their second child and he says it’s time to focus more on his growing family.
Still in the nomination race are Ryan Williams and Shelby Kramp-Neumann and Durkin says the party is lucky to have such candidates.
“When I was at the board meeting the other night and I saw these two very capable, very strong, very intelligent and very committed individuals around the table it let me know that it’s (the riding) in very good hands, that there’s two people you can support.”
Durkin made up a lot of ground for the Conservatives last year losing to Liberal Neil Ellis by just 1,465 votes.
Durkin is an employee of Quinte Broadcasting/Quinte News and is also employed by the Trenton Golden Hawks hockey club.
