The Quinte West Professional Firefighters Association Local 1328 are stepping up again, even amid a pandemic, to make sure no child is cold this winter.
The 29th annual Coats for Kids Program has been launched.
Firefighters work all year to secure good quality winter clothing to give to families in need as the colder weather approaches.
QWPFFA President Jay Coxwell says they always look forward to serving the community in this capacity and not just in an emergency environment.
He also noted there is significant support from local businesses, service clubs and individual donors to help support this program.
Last year, over 450 coats were distributed to local kids in need.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are new restrictions in place.
Coats will be given via appointment ONLY, to children living in Quinte West.
Parents/guardians must book their appointments for pick-up by calling 613-392-6557.
Please be sure of your child’s coat size when booking the appointment.
Send only one family member per household to the appointment with I.D. for each child (required).
Coats will be distributed at 85 Marmora Street, beside the fire station (old Cox Library).
