A market study shows there’s room for a new hotel in the area, specifically in the Municipality of Brighton.
Brighton council received a consultant’s report at its meeting Monday night.
The study shows a 60-room hotel would work and points to Highway 401 near downtown or near the lakeshore as good locations.
Mayor Brian Ostrander says their economic development staff will be reaching out to various hotel chains to spur their interest.
“We know that accommodations have booked up very quickly in Belleville and Trenton but indicate more in Belleville.”
The consultant prefers the 401 location but it would cost millions of dollars to bring municipal water and sewer service to the highway.
