There’s been a lot of talk about the shortage of accommodations for tourists and business travellers in the Quinte region and included in those discussions has been the Municipality of Brighton.
At its meeting tonight (Monday) Brighton council will see a consultant’s report on the the feasibility of having a hotel.
The consultants believe that in the near future the market will support a new 60-room hotel in Brighton, especially since hotels in Quinte West are older buildings.
Three location options are presented and those are Highway 401, near Brighton’s downtown, or near the lakeshore.
The consultants don’t recommend a hotel be downtown because it’s too far away from the 401 and say a lakeshore location would fetch higher room rates but would be far off the beaten path. They prefer a Highway 401 location, however, at this time there is no water and sewer at the 401.
