There is some good news for drivers and pedestrians in the Downtown Trenton area as a the first phase of a major road project, which started construction in the spring, is nearing completion.
Director of Public Works Chris Angelo told council on Monday night that the first phase of work on King and Queen Streets is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
The work includes new watermains and sanitary sewers under both streets, along with repaving, sidewalk repairs and other improvements.
Phase two of the King Street project will happen next year.
The work on King Street has a price tag of about $4.85 million, with the Queen Street work costing close to $2.3 million.
