Belleville Police responded to a frightening knife-related incident Saturday afternoon at a north east residential townhouse.
Police received numerous 911 calls regarding an irate man with a large knife causing a disturbance.
Numerous officers responded to the residence to find a large group of people screaming.
Officers say a 19-year-old man who discarded the knife as police arrived was safely taken into custody and nobody was injured.
It is believed the man was suffering from a mental health issue. Officers took the young man to Belleville General Hospital to receive care and treatment.
The investigation revealed that the young man never made any threats to anyone with the knife and no charges were laid.
