The ripple effect of more students moving to online learning, and the virtual school in Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, means changes are coming.
Initial registration had close to 1,700 students enrolled in the online school, but that has ballooned recently to closer to 2,500.
Director of Education Sean Monteith noted in a letter sent home on Friday afternoon, while the timing is not ideal, the current circumstances require the Board to make some staffing changes.
The Board is reorganizing schools by reducing the number of staff in physical schools because of the enrolment decline, and adding more staff to the virtual school environment.
Monteith said over the next few days, administration and staff will be informed what this reorganization will look like and what that impact will be for everyone.
He did note another reorganization and review of classrooms will not happen until January when the end of the secondary school semester would normally occur.
