The annual Gateane Harvey Memorial Walk has raised a new record amount.
Over $27,000 was raised during the seventh annual walk for cancer care at Belleville General Hospital following this weekend’s virtual walk.
Organizer Lisa McAuley decided the event could still take place virtually and the walk held this past Saturday and Sunday had the highest number of participants to date with 41.
Belleville General Hospital Foundation Executive Director Steve Cook says those at the Foundation loved how undaunted McAuley was by COVID-19 restrictions and still managed to put the walk together.
“Gee’s Walk” sees participants walk 53 km in memory of McAuley’s mother who was 53 when she passed away from cancer.
