The Member of Parliament for Hastings-Lennox and Addington riding says the Throne Speech had a few positives.
Conservative Derek Sloan says he approves of investment to get more COVID-19 testing up and running, adding he’s been demanding that in Parliament for months now.
However, Sloan says the Liberals always sound good but have problems actually following through on promises.
He specifically addressed the promise of one million new jobs.
“Can the government create a million jobs? I don’t know. You know we’re talking about massive government intervention, massive increases to our debt and deficit levels and no concrete plan to get us out of that.”
Sloan also said the Throne Speech’s mention of getting tougher with China sounds good but the Liberals have had five years to change policy toward China and have accomplished nothing.
The Conservatives will not support the Throne Speech when it comes to a Vote of Confidence.
