Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School board, Hastings Prince Edward School Board and Hastings Prince Edward Public health have announced updated COVID-19 screening for schools.
The highlights include:
- More detailed screening instructions for parents
- Permission for asymptomatic housemates or siblings of symptomatic students and staff to continue to attend school while monitoring for symptoms
- Permission for staff and students who have tested negative 24 hours after symptoms have improved
- Mandatory 14 day isolation for staff and students unless they’ve been otherwise diagnosed by a healthcare professional, they do not have a fever without medication and it has been at least 24 hours since symptoms presented, or 48 hours if symptoms included vomiting and diarrhea.
The updates come on the heels of the September 14 announcement of the online screening tool by the provincial government.
Updates were provided to the printable COVID-19 daily screening tool for parents/guardians , the Guidance for parents/guardians when a student does not pass COVID-19 screening and the return to school protocol for students/staff with COVID-19 symptoms .
