Feeling good and getting lost don’t generally go well together but when it comes to the pandemic version of Quinte West’s Adopt A Child program they match up perfectly.
Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, the usual Adopt A Child program kickoff Halloween dance couldn’t happen so instead the program, with a big help from the Crews and Harrison families, is offering the Smile Kindness Corn Maze.
Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine now and see how long it takes for you to find your way out of the maze which is located just north of Highway 401 at Crews Country Market on County Road 40, more commonly known as Wooler Road.
Cost to enter the Smile Kindness Corn Maze is $10 per person or $20 per family with proceeds going toward the Quinte West Adopt A Child program.
The maze will be an important fundraiser for the annual program which provides free indoor clothing for children in need in the community as the Halloween dance usually raises around $6,000 all of which is used to purchase clothing.
In regards to the program itself, people can register their children to receive clothing at the “At the Crossroads” church in downtown Trenton. Registration will occur Monday to Thursday from November 2 to November 26 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Those wishing to donate clothing or make a monetary donation are asked to contact Trenton Glass & Windows starting November 9 or text 613-391-8382 or email lisatriemstra@gmail.com.
Shopping for the children begins in December and in the recent past the number of kids registered has peaked at over 700.
Organizers of Quinte West’s Adopt A Child program are expecting the numbers to be higher this year because of the pandemic.
