The Belleville Police Services Board has joined with the Ontario Police Association of Ontario in honoring Constable Scott Tinsley
for his pivotal role in a dangerous vehicle pursuit in 2018.
Several Belleville police officers were involved in the pursuit of a vehicle being driven by a man who’d kidnapped a woman and had threatened to kill her.
The chase ended with the vehicle being forced off Old Highway 2 near CFB Trenton and being pinned up against a fence where a suspect was arrested without incident. Quinte West OPP officers were also involved.
Acting Chief of the Belleville Police Service Mike Callaghan said Constable Tinsley acted as the quarterback for the operation in a situation that could have led to serious injury or even death.
“Our training and more training paid off. We’re proud of Constable Tinsley as his actions went above and beyond what we’d expect of an officer with just seven years experience.”
For his part Constable Tinsley stressed that “many others were involved, this was a team effort.”
