It has been 87 years since a major streak for the South Hastings Baseball League began.
The league holds the record for the longest continuous baseball league in the world.
It began in 1933.
John “Bat” Masterson says they are continuing this year, however for a while it was in doubt.
Masterson says they cannot have fans at their games, which are all being played in Melrose.
The league took the 20-19-20 standings and put the teams directly into the playoffs.
On Sunday evening, Uen’s Pole Line got past Macklan 13-5, while the Read Young Guns knocked off Melrose 7-3.
Masterson added they have to be careful with the health unit rules.
Once the eight teams break down to the final four, there will be a two week break, because the teams are moving into a different group of 50 players.
The league hopes it can have a grand championship of the league, but the snow may be flying before that takes place.
