The Belleville Police Service responded to 67 calls for service from September 9, 2020 at 5 a.m. to September 10, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Warrants
On September 9, 2020 at approximately 12:05 p.m., city police were on Union Street when they came across a male known to them to have an arrest warrant out of the Bancroft area. The 57-year-old Belleville man was arrested on the outstanding warrant and turned over to the Bancroft, Ontario Provincial Police without incident.
Via Rail Disturbance
On September 9, 2020 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Belleville Police received a call for assistance from the CN Rail Police regarding a woman causing a disturbance on a Via train who may have been suffering from mental health issues. City officers attended the rail yard and contacted the female. Belleville officers were able to assist in calming the 48-year-old woman down who was from the York Region. Police assisted the woman to the Belleville General Hospital where she received medical care.
Residence Disturbance
On September 9, 2020 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Belleville Police were dispatched to a southwest end residence complex at the request of residence security regarding a disturbance regarding two intoxicated males. When officers arrived, one male had the other pinned against the wall. Officers intervened securing both men. City EMS were dispatched due to the large amount of alcohol consumed by the one man. Officers were concerned that he may be suffering from alcohol poisoning. One of the males calmed down and was cooperative with police and released on site back into his residence. However, the other gentleman became assaultive with the responding EMS attendants.
Officers arrested the man under the Liquor Licence Act for his own protection. Officers attended with EMS to the Belleville General Hospital. The young man was medically treated due to the large amount of alcohol in his system. No charges were laid. Both men are from the Kingston area and are 21 years of age.
Theft
Two males entered onto a residential porch and removed what appeared to be delivered packages of the home owners. Police say witnesses observed the two male suspects enter a park area located at Farnham road and Kipling Avenue after the theft. A grainy video was obtained and police are still investigating.

Traffic Enforcement
On September 9, 2020 at approximately 9 p.m., a city officer conducted a traffic stop on Church Street for a defaced licence plate. Upon further investigation, the officer found that the driver was operating the motor vehicle with no insurance.
A 28-year-old Belleville was charged with the following;
- Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance
- Owner Deface Licence Plate
The driver is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court to answer to his charges on October 5, 2020. The car was seized and removed from the location via recovery tow.
