Planning is beginning for the extension of a pedestrian/fitness trail from Bain Park to Centennial Park along the bayshore in Trenton.
Wentworth Landscaping has completed an initial conceptual design for the almost two kilometre long trail and work is underway to negotiate for some land easements and prepare more detailed design and construction plans.
Director of Public Works and Environmental Services Chris Angelo says it’s hoped the trail extension will be done by sometime in 2022.
“our council has talked about it and previous councils have talked about it for a number of years and we’re finally to the point where we have a conceptual design done.”
When finished, the trail would include fitness pods, rest areas, and a small bridge across DND creek.
Also when completed, people could walk on a dedicated pathway from Bain Park to Prince Edward County as planning is also underway to upgrade the abandoned railway bed from Dufferin Avenue to County Road 64.
